A good circuit board starts with good circuit design, but we at Newgrange Design know that it doesn’t stop there. We team up with your engineers to help move the design from an abstract concept to an actual product, adding value along the way.
Our goal is to help our clients realize functional, well-designed printed circuit boards in a timely fashion. We tailor our involvement to the needs of each client, working within the budget and time constraints of each project. Our services include:
Tools
Our primary layout tools are:
- Allegro
- PADS
- Altium
- OrCAD
Schematic Capture
If you have a complete design entered into a CAD program with all the necessary information, that’s great. But, if you have a napkin with a hand-drawn schematic, we’re happy to start there, too. We can create a layout-ready schematic quickly and accurately.
Tools
We can create or edit your schematic in your choice of programs:
- OrCAD
- Altium
- PADS Logic
- DxDesigner
Footprints
Footprints are the building blocks of a good PCB design. Newgrange Design follows a process that consistently improves footprint quality and reduces risk. Every new footprint is reviewed according to our Quality Assurance procedures. We can work with your library of footprints or create footprints for all the components on the board, or anything in between. We customize our design solution to your needs.
Placement
When placing components on a board, Newgrange Design considers the electrical functioning of the circuit, in addition to any height or other mechanical constraints. We involve clients in the placement of components so that we can be sure that it is right before the routing process begins.
Routing and Design Rules
Routing a PCB involves a lot more than just making sure the point to point connections are made according to the schematic. Newgrange Design understands that many designs need special attention, from high-speed digital designs to low-level analog signals, from high current requirements to RF antennas.Today’s PCB Layout tools offer sophisticated design rule checking to ensure that your PCB meets your requirements, but rule checking is only useful if you have the right rules. We work with our clients and with our in-house electrical engineering to make sure that we truly understand the constraints of the design.
Design Experience
The designers at Newgrange Design have created many boards that have offered a range of technical challenges
- High speed digital designs (>200 MHz)
- Switching power supplies
- Low-level analog designs
- RF (5.4 GHz)
- Microwave (>10 GHz)
- High current (10 Amps)
- High voltage (3kV)
Our board designs have included simple, two-layer boards, and more complicated designs which required precise fabrication.
- Two layer – Sixteen layer boards
- Flex circuits
- High pin counts (>1000 pin BGA)
- Controlled impedance and matched length traces
- Blind and Buried vias
We can also provide fabrication drawings (as a PDF or to be imported into another CAD program) and assembly drawings as our clients require.
